The Three Gunas

The Three Gunas: Navigating Food Energies

Understanding the Three Gunas (Sattva, Rajas, Tamas) is essential for selecting the right foods for spiritual progress.

The Philosophy

  • Sattvic (Goodness): Fresh, light, simple, nourishing. Promotes clarity.
  • Rajasic (Passion): Overly spicy, sour, salty, or stimulating. Promotes agitation.
  • Tamasic (Ignorance): Stale, rotten, fermented, heavily processed, or meat-based. Promotes lethargy.

In the Kitchen

We aim for the Sattvic mode. We avoid excessive spices (Rajas) and 'dead' or unclean foods (Tamas).

Spiritual Benefits

By consistently choosing Sattvic food, we naturally elevate our consciousness to a higher platform, making it easier to engage in deep study and meditation.
